About Smart Refuel

Who we are

Smart Refuel is a free website and web app at smartfuel.ie (sometimes written SmartFuel) that helps Irish drivers find and compare fuel prices. It covers petrol, diesel and LPG, with a price page for every one of the 26 counties of the Republic of Ireland, a live station map, a fuel cost calculator, an EV route planner, fuel and energy news, and a directory of garages where you can request quotes.

Smart Refuel does not sell fuel and is not owned by any fuel company or retailer. It is an independent comparison service. It is not affiliated with other websites or apps with similar names.

Where our prices come from

Every price on Smart Refuel is labelled with how reliable it is:

• Driver-reported — a price a driver has submitted for a specific station.
• Estimated — where nobody has reported a price, we estimate it from the national average so that you still get a useful comparison. Estimates are clearly marked.
• National average — taken from the weekly EU Oil Bulletin average for Ireland. We show the date it was published next to the figure.

Station names and locations come from public map data. Prices at the pump can differ from what you see here, so always check the pump before you fill up.

How often is it updated?

National averages update when a new EU Oil Bulletin is published. Station prices update as drivers report them. Price trends and forecasts are estimates based on historical prices, market movements and seasonal demand — they are not guarantees.
